Barb is highly regarded as an innovative credit and collections veteran serving as the Chief Legal Officer for Remitter. Previously, Barb was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of FactorTrust Inc., a credit reporting agency sold to TransUnion and served as General Counsel to LSQ Funding Group.
With a solid history as regulatory and litigation counsel, Barb joined Asset Acceptance Capital Corp (AACC) as VP and Compliance Counsel in 2001and was part of the team that help take it public as one of the few publicly traded debt buying companies. She also served for many years as General Counsel to the Receivables Management Association (RMA).
As part of her efforts to create positive change in the credit and collection industry, Barb has one of the few FTC formal opinions letters on foreclosure mitigation and she assisted the FTC with the drafting of the rules on deceased collections. She has worked closely with the CFPB, FTC, and State legislatures to craft solutions workable both for the FinTech industry and consumers. Her TCPA case Mims v Arrow was heard before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011 when she was a partner in the firm Barron, Newburger & Sinsley PLLC.
Barb is a native from Wisconsin and graduated from University of Wisconsin- Madison and received her JD from South Texas College of Law. She is an avid hiker and enjoys a challenging trek followed by a cold IPA.
